Riley Gatten studies Finance, Economics, and Accounting at Drury University. Also, he is an intern at SDuckett Ladd Audit/Tax intern. We asked him a few questions about his work as an intern.
Tell us about the company you work for.
Duckett Ladd is a small CPA and Advisor firm that specializes in clients that are in the world of dentistry. Outside of that, they have a handful of clients that run and manage rental properties, keeping them busy and diversified.
What are your duties?
Looking back on my internship, I have come a long way. Thinking of the things I did on my first day compared to now, everything is a breeze. I have become knowledgeable in accounting by using real-world accounting software and building relationships and networking among my coworkers to help me in future careers.
What are your plans after graduation?
I hope to accept a full-time position at BKD after graduation.
What recommendation(s) would you give other Breech students about internships?
If something seems out of your comfort zone for an internship, don’t dismiss it right away. Also, real growth happens when we push past our limits and explore the unknown. This is the only way to figure out what our passions are and what we like.
