Zeid Nahhas studies marketing at Drury University and is an intern at GreatMoods Fundraising. We asked him a few questions about his work as an intern.
Tell us about the company you work for.
GreatMoods is an organization that is in charge of creating and/or finding the best fundraising opportunities for a host of different consumer varieties. The processes are headed by GreatMoods from beginning to end, and the entirety of the work is done internally within the company, rather than outsourcing.
What are your duties?
As a marketing/management intern, I have responsibilities in many aspects of the process. I help with the editing process of all company forms, in terms of grammar, formatting, unification, and ease of access. I also perform some tasks related to graphic design, where I edit and clean up pictures that we intend to use in our fundraising processes. Moreover, I have created some spreadsheet templates to help the sorting and funneling processes that our interns are performing in search of adequate suppliers.
What do you enjoy the most about your internship?
I enjoy the remote aspect of the internship, to an extent. I enjoy working on my own terms in terms of location and time, and it makes me more productive when I can work according to my own needs. I also enjoy the nature of the work I’m doing, as I am good at it, as well as, I enjoy the interactions with my bosses and peers, as they are of professional nature, and we are all trying to get the job done as efficiently and smoothly as possible.
What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I intend to spend a few months back home, with family. And after that, I have already secured, and plan on securing more, job interviews in the Middle East, primarily Dubai and the United Arab Emirates.
What recommendation(s) would you give other Breech students about internships?
While this type of internship (remote) has definitely been a helpful learning experience for me, I wouldn’t recommend that this be someone’s first (or major) internship over the last couple of years of their university career. The remote nature of the internship offers a copious amount of freedom and customization in terms of how one carries it out but is also tough to deal with if one isn’t sufficiently capable of managing their time and priorities. It took me a while to get used to the dynamic that such an internship requires of you, but once I got there, it became much easier and more enjoyable. Moreover, the internship I selected pertained to duties that I am both good at, and enjoy immensely, which is definitely something I recommend you look for in a potential internship for you, not only for your major but for your career aspirations.
